Our animals are the heart and soul of Lydford Gorge Alpacas, where we pride ourselves on delivering tailored, personal and inclusive animal experiences with animal welfare principles always at our core. From relaxing picnics, highly interactive Animal Encounters to trekking across the moors, there really is an activity for everyone whatever your age, ability or group size. All experiences can be booked when booking your holiday with us, or during your stay. They are subject to availability and do get very popular during the summer months, so please do book as far in advance as possible.
The Trek
Fancy trekking across a picturesque moorland track with a new furry best friend by your side? Then this is the experience for you! Our trekking team really do love their walks and can’t wait to be your guide (they will take you to all the best food stops!). We trek all year round as the moors are stunning in every season as we walk out towards the iconic Brentor church and back towards Great Links tor.
Suitable for:
Adults and children 12 years and above. Suitable for most fitness levels as alpacas cannot be hurried and we always walk at the pace of the slowest in the group (this is usually one of the alpacas).
Cost:
£36 per person with their own alpaca.
Duration:
3 Hour experience (actual walking part is about 2 hours at a slow pace).
Need to know:
Length of trek is about 2 miles; wellies or waterproof shoes a must; pack a waterproof layer just in case; 1 adult per 2 children ratio.
Picnic with the Pacas
The best combination – food and fluffy animals! Bring your own picnic to enjoy in our peaceful, secluded orchard and enjoy the alpaca boys who will be right next to you in the adjacent paddock. You can interact with the boys (over a low fence line) whenever you like during the experience and feed them a bag of their favourite treats. There is an animal information board so you can match up the boys to their profiles and discover who is the naughty one, the greedy one and the cuddly ones!

all ages and all abilities. Great for those looking for A really affordable experience or for those more nervous of animals.

Need to know:
Your experience is exclusive just for your party; No BBQs of any kind; Any footwear is permitted; There is no ratio of adult to children required but it is mandatory for one adult to be present at all times.
